Students and staff from various cultures submit recipes, which I then put together to create a Penn Valley Multicultural Cookbook.

Food is a vital pillar for what many people consider 'home' to be. When designing for this multicultural cookbook I wanted to invite the reader to sit down at a table we all are familiar with and feel that sense of nostalgia while creating dishes that come from diverse walks of life.
In order to deliver these emotions, I kept things clean and simple. Warm colors such as yellow, orange, and red are 'hungry' colors; using a burnt red alongside an organic brushstroke I hoped to embody that home-style rustic feel while keeping things clean with a monochromatic theme. Organization is vital when reading from a cookbook, I designed the space accordingly with appealing levels of white space in contrast with minimalistic illustrations.
